"All Are Tested"

Judges 3:1-6

Being tested is a normal part of the human experience. Everything and everyone gets tested. Students are tested in school to see how well they retain knowledge. Marriages, and friendships, and relationships of all kinds are tested. Even new products are tested before they are released to the market.

But testing is also found in scripture. God added testing to life’s experience from the very beginning. Adam and Eve were tested in the Garden of Eden. God placed the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil in the center of the Garden and then allowed Satan to use it to test them.

This Sunday we are going to look at another clear example of God testing His people. The children of Israel had entered the Promised Land after forty years of wandering in the wilderness, but they had disobeyed God’s command to destroy all the inhabitants of the land. As we look at this story found in the book of Judges, we will see that God left those inhabitants in the land to test His children.

I hope you will join me Sunday as we see that all of us are tested, and not all of us pass. But failure does not have to be final.
