How would you define the American Dream? Is it loving God, country, baseball, and apple pie? Or maybe you think of the American Dream as one word - freedom. No matter how you define it, the American Dream is self-focused. It shines the spotlight on what we have, what we do, and who we are. So this morning as we begin a new sermon series called “American Dream,” we want to balance the American Dream with God’s dream for us. God’s dream is that we would take on the character of Jesus, and that means our life should be focused more on what we give than on what we get. Today we will look at the words of Peter as he speaks of this lifestyle of generosity that God dreams of building into our character. You have been given a gift.
