Legacy - Comforter - Week 1

“Noah - Comforter”

Genesis 6:5-9

This morning we are starting a sermon series called “Legacy - What’s In a Name?” For the next five weeks we are going to look at some Old Testament characters to see how their legacy can shape our story. Today we will start with Noah, whose name means “comfort.” Noah lived in a very uncomfortable time, but he knew where to find comfort.

Noah’s story is the story of a world filled with people who were comfortable in their sin. It’s the story of one man who, by the grace of God, found comfort by walking with God. From Noah we learn to find comfort in God’s grace, not in our sin.
