“Faith”

James 1:5-11

For those of us who are directionally challenged, maps are important. They keep us from getting lost on the way to our destination. Well, James has a destination that he wants us to get to, and he has given us a map to get us there. James wants to move us from uncertainty to wisdom ... from doubt to faith. But there are some detours that we need to avoid along the way. We learn from James that our need for control, our sense of entitlement, and our focus on materialism can cause us to veer off the path leading to the kind of faith that God wants us to have. To get to our destination, we need to wait on God’s wisdom and then step forward in faith.
