“So Close Yet So Far Away”
Genesis 28:10-22

This morning we will continue our look at the story of Jacob. We saw last week that Jacob deceived his father and stole his brother’s birthright. As a result, Jacob had to flee, and as he was running he stopped for the night to rest. During the night, Jacob had a dream in which he saw a ladder with angels ascending and descending from heaven.
In this dream God promised to be with Jacob wherever he went. When Jacob awoke, he realized that “surely the LORD is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” (Genesis 28:16) Like Jacob, God has promised to be with us, but we must be aware of His presence. The question is not whether God is present with us. The question is - are you present with God?
